Recognizes the dedication of an individual or group advancing heritage conservation through public awareness, heritage planning and management, or exemplary volunteer service.

Award winners are honoured at an annual event in the summer and projects are profiled on our website, social media and in our newsletter The Griffin.

Note: Awards may not be given in every category every year.

Selection Procedure

The Awards Committee reviews the applications submitted. This process includes an evaluation of the project based on the established criteria based on the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, a review of the materials submitted and may include seeking additional information.

  • Special consideration is given to projects involving adaptive reuse, buildings rescued from imminent demolition, and buildings of community interest that have been saved.

  • The Awards Committee’s list of recommended award winners is presented to the Heritage Trust’s Board of Trustees for approval.

  • Awardees and nominators will be notified by email that an award will be given.
